F. Chopin – Heroic Polonaise

Written by

Frederic Chopin – Polonaise Opus 53 in A-flat Major

The Heroic nickname seems to have been given by George Sand (Chopin’s lover), who suggested that the piece should be a symbol of the 1848 Revolution because of its heroic character. It is a very difficult and virtuosic piece, but yet powerful and emotional.  It is marked Alla polacca e maestoso (like a polonaise and majestic).
