Minuet in G minor, J. S. Bach

Written by

Minuet in G Major BWV Ahn 115

from the Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach - compiled by J.S. Bach

This minuet was composed by the German Baroque composer Christian Petzold (1677-1733).  The previous minuet was in G Major, while this one is in G minor. Pay attention to the sound, and try to recognize how this minuet sounds “sadder” and less “joyful” than Petzold's G Major one.

The first minuet was performed on the harpsichord, while this one is being performed on the piano. Can you hear the difference in the sound of these two instruments?

The performer of this piece is Rosalyn Tureck (1913-2003), an American pianist that became famous for her performances of Bach’s works.
